National Alumni Association Scholarship Program 2020

 

Application Deadline: July 3, 2020


The Albany State University National Alumni Association, Inc. (ASUNAA) established the ASUNAA Scholarship Award Program to recognize, encourage and reward undergraduate students who: are in good academic standing at Albany State University; demonstrate a financial need; have a record of leadership in school and in the  community;  have the potential to become active alumni who will support Albany State University (ASU) and ASUNAA; and, contribute to their communities.

The ASUNAA has awarded scholarships to several students since its inception as an Association.  In keeping with its tradition of assisting students and in response to the significant financial hardship many students will encounter as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ASUNAA Board of Directors is proud to offer financial assistance  to  students enrolled at ASU.  Two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are available for students to apply. They are:

Marie H. Dixon Scholarship - $1,000 Funds Available: Fall Semester 2000

 
Marie  The Marie H. Dixon Scholarship  is presented by the Albany State University National Alumni Association to perpetuate the memory of ASU Alumni Ms. Marie H. Dixon. Ms. Dixon personified the mission of the Association. This award is made to one eligible student who is enrolled at Albany State University. Students must submit: an application; an essay (one page); two (2) letters of recommendation; and, a college transcript. The recipient must have a minimum 2.7 grade point average, exhibit outstanding leadership abilities through specific activities and events and demonstrate a financial need.


Deadline for Application: July 3, 2020.  

 

Next GEN Leadership Scholarship - $1,000 Funds Available: Fall Semester 2020


The Next Gen Leadership Scholarship is presented by the Albany State University National Alumni Association to recognize students that exhibit outstanding leadership at ASU and to encourage engagement with the Association in an effort to develop the next generation of leaders. This award is made to one eligible student who is enrolled at Albany State University. Students must submit: an application; an essay (one page); two (2) letters of recommendation; and, a college transcript. The recipient must have a minimum 2.7 grade point average, exhibit outstanding leadership abilities through specific activities and events and demonstrate a financial need. Preference will be given to a student that is a member of the ASU Pre-Alumni Club, but the Scholarship is open to all ASU students.

Deadline for Application: July 3, 2020   


Scholarship Committee Members

This Committee is responsible for the identification and selection on an annual basis of a worthy student(s) to receive financial assistance from the Association through its scholarship programs (Marie H. Dixon Scholarship and Next Gen Leadership Scholarship}. The amount of scholarship to be awarded will be in accordance with established Board policy. Recommendations made are subject to Board and Association approval.
